Meike Langer is independent furniture and product designer. She graduated from University of Art and design in Offenbach in 2010 with additional studies at the ECAL in Lausanne. An internship in the studio of Patricia Urquiola in 2007 enhanced her sense for materials, colours and textures. With a strong preference for clear lines and natural materials she is striving for simplicity and functionality as central values in her designs. Meike wishes to create objects curated to the finest detail whilst remaining easy to handle, making life easier and more enjoyable. Physical and visual lightness as well as mutability are recurring themes in her work. "It might sound idealistic but I think well designed products should not be a luxury. Instead they should be accessible for everyone and help to make peoples life more comfortable.” Meike collaborates with international clients and galleries. Her designs have been showcased at international trade fairs and exhibitions in Paris, Milan, Cologne and Kortrijk. She is also artistic assistant in the product design department at Bauhaus-Universität in Weimar. In 2014 her product SALUT as been awarded at the Biennale Interieur Awards in Kortrijk.
